What We Do To Secure Your Privacy
What is HIPAA?
HIPAA stands for The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 - it helped set a federal standard for protecting your sensitive health information from being used in wrongful ways or even ways in which did not consent.
Steps We Have Taken:
Third-party services - we only work with third-party vendors who are compliant with HIPAA and agree to uphold the same level of security that we uphold under federal and state law. This includes our vendors for:
Email services (ash@avanahealth.org)
Fax services
Phone and voicemail services
Video telehealth services
Electronic medical record system
Patient portal
Billing and payment processing
Please use one of our HIPAA-compliant contact methods to contact us to help ensure the protection of your privacy.
Releasing medical information - only to approved individuals
Following HIPAA, medical information related to the patient will only be revealed to the patient and/or individuals who have been identified by the patient or legal representative as approved recipients of the patient’s personal medical information.
